O Geólogo Carlos Neto de Carvalho é coordenador do Geopark Naturtejo da Meseta Meridional e membro da comissão de coordenação da Rede Europeia de Geoparques. Já trabalhou em mais de 200 trabalhos em diversas áreas como Geologia, Paleontologia, Património.

A entrevista dá-se no cabeço mosqueiro, uma manta de vales e montes surge à nossa volta e, nas beiras, a imaginação dá lugar à paisagem com recortes de incêndios e de monoculturas, imaginamos as possibilidades para um território pouco conhecido e em que as falhas se revelam a olho nu.

Aida Jobarteh is a Swedish ethnologist and researcher who studies the notions of blackness, race, and migration in connection to European borders. She's worked on issues related to the African diaspora in the cultural sector, mainly focusing on the role of artistic spaces as examples of structural barriers and opportunities.

Arianna Traviglia

Discovering cultural heritage from the space

Archaeology is the intersection of many disciplines, both in humanities and in sciences and, in the last decade, in technology as well.

Dr Arianna Traviglia’s work is placed at this intersection, and most of her research focuses on mediating the inclusion of digital practices within the study and management of cultural heritage.

She leads the Center for Cultural Heritage Technology, based in Venice, the satellite center of the Italian Institute of Technology in charge of the Cultural Landscape Scanner project, carried out in collaboration with the European Space Agency.

Their work at the center focuses on the preservation, conservation and analysis of cultural heritage through Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics and Material Science.

The aim of the project is to create an algorithm which brings them all together through AI with a common purpose: detecting archaeological sites still buried underground.

In this conversation, recorded in Venice in July 2021, we talked about the technologies which are shaping the archeology of the 21st century, the challenges of AI and the need of interconnection between humanities and hard sciences.

He is a senior Developer Technician at the Human-Technology Interaction and Robotics department of Centro de Computação Gráfica, in Guimarães, Portugal.

In this conversation, we talk about the nature of spatial audio, the power of simulations, and how the human brain will adapt to new and immersive virtual realities.
