Boxing Lisboa

Voz do Operário, Lisbon,  20th of February 2016
The world of Boxing is mysterious, attractive, ever-present in popular culture.
The relationship between Boxing and music, especially jazz, is ancient and fertile. What goes on inside the ring has always been deeply connected with the people and the places that surround it, like a ritualistic enacting of our desires, our fears and our hopes.
Boxing Lisboa documents and promotes the art of Boxing in Lisbon and Portugal.
The brand is committed to elevating the sport and its culture to a higher standard, working together with athletes, coaches, referees, and everyone who is involved in Boxing to make this legendary art a central element of the city’s cultural scene.
On Saturday, the 20th of February 2016, the first Boxing Lisboa Gala happened at the legendary Voz do Operário venue in the heart of Lisbon. It was an unforgettable night, blessed by the deep sounds of GUME.
Lisbon’s best amateur boxing clubs came together and competed in a graceful celebration of culture and sports.
AnRam Team, Paulo Seco Boxing Club, Águias da Musgueira, Sporting Clube de Portugal, the Rounds Academy, and Escola de Boxe João Faleiro.
The history of Boxing has finally found a way into the century. In the heart of the city, at the center of things.
